HY secures Westmead Hospital Main Works

Hansen Yuncken has secured Westmead Hospital Main Works Enabling Contract on Hawkesbury Road, Westmead NSW; a multi-phased project to prepare an area of the Westmead Precinct for the New Main Acute Services Building.

In February 2015, the NSW Government announced more than $900 million towards the Westmead Redevelopment which includes the Main Works Enabling Contract ($24m). The work phases include the design finalisation; decommissioning and demolition of the Newborn Emergency Transportation Service (NETS) Helipad and NETS Multi Storey Car Park. Also required is the fitout and relocation to the new premises for NETS at Bankstown Airport, a new lightweight helipad including structural modifications to an existing carpark and a new lift facility and elevated access way for the transfer of patients.

The works will involve overall site remediation and disposal of contaminated and surplus excavated material from site benching and installation of a marking and capping layer to areas of contaminated ground. Pile installation for the structural support of the new Acute Services building will also be required as well as the excavation and backfilling to create clean service trenches.

Completing more than $4 billion in healthcare projects nationally, we look forward to showcasing our capabilities for Westmead Hospital.
