24 years of leadership drives QLD growth

Having worked with Hansen Yuncken for some 24 years, Queensland State Manager Greg Baumann has had a varied experience of Australian climates having resided in Adelaide, Hobart/ Devonport, Cairns and now Brisbane. Here are some of his thoughts about the businesses growth in Queensland.

With a land mass ‘three times greater than Texas’, the geographies of Queensland are challenging but provide enormous opportunities for growth. Operating in Queensland for 10 years, Hansen Yuncken has completed projects in Cairns, FNQ regional locations (up to Cape York), Townsville and Rockhampton and in the last 4 years, focused on the development of a South East Queensland branch. We were initially engaged for projects associated with Archerfield and Brisbane Airport, and then progressed to large industrial projects for both Goodman and Altis.

The past couple of years has seen our local teams working enthusiastically in the delivery of two projects for the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. The Coomera Indoor Sports Centre was handed over six months ago and we are rapidly finishing the $142m Carrara Sports Precinct facility. Being involved in these two critical community infrastructure projects has raised the profile of the Hansen Yuncken business.

Recently, we have been appointed by Queensland University of Technology to build a new Education Precinct building at their Kelvin Grove campus. Throughout this period, we have maintained our presence in Far North Queensland by way of delivering numerous Education and Aged Care buildings including in remote locations such as Mer and Sabai Islands which are an exercise in careful logistics planning.

With an economy that is starting to once again gain momentum, we forecast strong forward work opportunities in Queensland.

It has been exciting to witness the branch expand, and our staff are enthusiastic about implementing innovative and efficient solutions when designing and delivering projects for our clients and business partners.
