Making a splash on Rainbow Road

Underpinning our corporate values is a real desire to make a difference to the community in which we work. With a sense of pride instilled in all of us, the St Kilda’s new Victorian Pride Centre (Pride Centre) ticks all the boxes when it comes to community engagement.

A game changer for the LGBTIQ community, this truly unique $35m project is set to become an incredibly powerful and iconic building, forging a new chapter in the narrative of Australian pride.

Hansen Yuncken was thrilled to be awarded the contract at the site of the old Monroes Restaurant, in the heart of St Kilda. The Victorian Pride Centre will be one of the largest in the world, with over 6,000m2 in floor space over 5 levels and 1 level of basement carparking, sitting on the corner of Fitzroy Street and the ever-so-fitting Rainbow Road that is Jackson Street.

Following a comprehensive value management and design management exercise, our mission is to complete the project ahead of program. Keeping one step ahead of the game, we are facilitating the use of cloud base models and clash detection software across our design consulting team, all in the spirit of improving efficiency. Providing all stakeholders with clear and timely insight to design coordination issues accelerates the development of solutions, ensuring a highly coordinated set of documents is available for construction. With demolition works already complete our team are full steam ahead to convert this architecturally complex design into reality by mid 2020.
