An innovative building façade, consisting of mirror-like external walls, cleverly reflects the surrounding foliage of the 1,426m2 Cairns Botanic Gardens Visitor Centre. An undercover amphitheatre houses approximately 30 of the Council’s cultural services staff and offers interactive technology-based exhibits, kids’ activities, a cafe and possible future live animal displays. Solar panels, natural ventilation, low energy lighting and rainwater tanks are key environmentally sustainable features.
