The on site construction period was an extremely rapid 4 months. A high degree of collaboration with the client and the design team enabled this deadline to be successfully met.

    Completion Date: July 2009

This PC2 laboratory fitout project followed on from the success of the initial award winning National Measurement Institute project completed in mid 2008.

These labs required a temperature tolerance of ±0.3°C in their main Lab and ±0.1°C in their Precision Lab.  To achieve these tight tolerances the airconditioning systems have been designed with very high air change rates of up to 150 air changes per hour.  To assist in the delivery of air into each lab lamina flow Luwa ceiling panels have been installed to reduce the air mixing.  Return air is taken at low level.  An intermediate ceiling level is provided  which contains the light fittings and supply air outlets.  Air is exhausted through the light fittings to minimise the amount of heat from the lights entering the Labs.  The systems are controlled by the site BMS.

The laboratory is now being used by the government department for the testing and measurement of surfaces, foods and materials for consumer protection and information.
