Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre

This stunning 14,000m2 facility collocated and linked to the existing Albury Hospital provides world class cancer care to the regional community. Shifting away from traditional hospital construction, the end result is functional and inviting, with individual inpatient rooms and open-air courtyards.
Organised around two ground level courtyards, spaces avoid the traditional ‘cave’ approach to Radiation Oncology. The 30 bed inpatient ward on the second floor features rooms built around two ‘v shaped’ spaces and an Oncology Day Unit with 30 chemotherapy chairs providing patients with a beautiful view outdoors.
Hansen Yuncken upskilled the local workforce by implementing several innovative methodologies on this project. Precast concrete slabs were lifted onto the steel framework by crane, followed by a concrete pour over each frame to complete the individual levels.
