Commonwealth Law Courts
Housing the High Court of Australia, the Federal Court of Australia, the Family Court of Australia and the Federal Magistrates Court, the quality of this eleven storey building needed to reflect the gravitas of its function as the pillar of justice within Adelaide.
Clad in sandstone and coloured metal panels, designed to reflect the colours of the Adelaide hills and plains, the finish and the appearance was constructed to the highest standard of workmanship. A highlight is the oval conical tower with its facade of green patinated copper sheeting.
The completed facility provides 22 courtrooms, including a dedicated indigenous court room and 27 judges’ chambers, and incorporates environmental innovations such as rainwater recycling.
