Lyell McEwin Hospital Redevelopment
The Lyell McEwin Hospital Expansion Project is a continuation of Hansen Yuncken’s decades long relationship with the Department for Infrastructure & Transport. The expanded Emergency Department and new Mental Health Short Stay Unit was carefully coordinated to allow continuous clinical care throughout delivery. The expansion provides care to the rapidly growing population in Adelaide’s northern suburbs, with accessible, modern facilities.

The project at Lyell McEwin Hospital has resulted in a range of subcontracting opportunities supporting South Australia’s local industry, including supply of 500 concrete trucks to deliver 3,000m2 of concrete and 200t of locally fabricated structural steel.
Hansen Yuncken have a proud 20-year history with the Lyell McEwin Hospital including a 96 bed Acute Inpatient Building and a doubling of the Hospital Emergency Department
A built legacy with sustainability at its heart, the 2001 redevelopment of the project was the second Green Star (Health) certified project in Australia, achieving a Six Green Star Rating.
