The construction of the Southern Remand Centre has progressed the State Government one step closer to Tasmania’s compliance with the United Nations minimum standards for sentenced and unsentenced offenders. The Southern Remand Centre provides separate housing for Remandees from sentenced offenders for the first time in Tasmanian history.
