Appropriately dramatic, the exterior shimmers in the sunshine with its crinkled ‘curtains’ denoting the opening of a performance. Delivered in partnership with Liminal Studio and WOHA, its bold and beautiful design complements its heritage characteristics, following the delicate restoration of The Hedberg Garage.
The Hedberg has become a name at the heart of Hobart’s growing role as a city of national artistic and cultural standing.
Original bricks and oregon and cedar timber recovered from the demolition of the garage were recycled and used to maximum effect. The timber features in the salon acoustic wall linings and in façade heritage interpretation details, and the recycled bricks were inlaid into the concrete foyer floors and used as crushed, decorative gravel in landscaped areas.
