The Peacock Centre Redevelopment

A multi-service facility for those experiencing mental health issues, underpinned by personal agency and empowerment, the Peacock Centre Redevelopment aims to reduce stigma and contribute toward a sustainable community. Hansen Yuncken proudly delivered this community hub, providing a lasting impact and shape generations to come.

Complete despite two arson attempts

Grassroots mental health initiative

Significant heritage restoration

First of its kind for Tasmanian community

The redevelopment includes 12 short stay bedrooms, communal visitor spaces, personal reflection spaces, treatment/counselling spaces, cafe, kitchen and multipurpose spaces for staff and users. Revitalised landscaping provides space for outdoor activities, with community gardens open to the surrounding community.

Despite two arson attacks the completed project stands proud among the Tasmanian community

With mental health at the forefont of this project, the Hansen Yuncken team proudly immersed themselves among the tight knit construction community. Comradery and teamwork in the face of hardship sparked grassroots initiative, ‘Make Your Mark for Mental Health’, with the charred sediment from shiplap facade panels.
