Hansen Yuncken has been appointed to deliver a new 450-bed student accommodation development at the University of Newcastle’s Callaghan Campus.

The eight-storey building will provide a range of affordable accommodation options to suit different student needs and budgets, including individual studios, accessible studios and shared six-bedroom living clusters.

A collection of communal facilities will support connection, study and student wellbeing, including lounges, libraries, games and meeting rooms, study and consultation spaces, laundry facilities and landscaped outdoor gathering areas. End-of-trip and back-of-house amenities will also support the day-to-day operation of the residence.

Designed to achieve a 5 Star Green Star rating, the development will expand the University’s on-campus housing capacity while creating a welcoming, sustainable and connected residential community. The project builds on Hansen Yuncken’s longstanding relationship with the University of Newcastle and our experience delivering innovative education and student accommodation facilities.
