The University of the Sunshine Coast has engaged Hansen Yuncken to complete the design and construction the Foundation Building on their new campus located in the Moreton Bay region.
Work has recently commenced on the three-storey $100m USC Moreton Bay Foundation Building at Petrie. Spanning more than 16,000 square metres of floor space, the Building will feature a stunning 600-seat internal amphitheatre providing relaxed study areas for students as well as a venue for community events.
The building, designed by Hassell, will also include a large lecture theatre, multi-purpose rooms, student centre, library, food and beverage spaces, multi deck car park and has been designed to cater for rapid growth of the student population. It will sit at one end of a planned open mall that will stretch out to a future village green and community library.
USC Moreton Bay is planned to open in time for Semester 1, 2020. The first intake of students, expected to be as many as 1200, will have a choice of almost 50 study programs including business, education and computer science.
