The University of the Sunshine Coast engaged Hansen Yuncken to complete the design and construction of their state of the art Foundation Building, marking the beginning of a new campus in the Moreton Bay region.

Work was recently completed on the three-storey $107 million USC Moreton Bay Foundation Building at Petrie. Spanning more than 16,000m2 of floor space, the building features a stunning 460-seat internal amphitheatre, providing relaxed study areas for students and community events.

Designed by Hassell architects, the building includes a large lecture theatre, multi-purpose rooms, student centre, library, food and beverage spaces and multi-deck car park, all designed to cater to a rapidly growing student population. The building is positioned at one end of a planned open mall that will stretch out to a future village green and community library.

The Foundation Building was opened successfully in time for Semester 1, 2020. The first intake of students had the opportunity to choose from almost 50 study programs including business, education and computer science.
