Following an Early Contractor Involvement phase, Hansen Yuncken was awarded the design and construction of six ambulance superstations to improve the delivery of NSW Ambulance’s service across the Sydney metropolitan area. The six superstations, located in Bankstown, Liverpool, Blacktown, Penrith, Northmead and Waverley, all form part of a network of superstations and paramedic response points within the greater Sydney Ambulance Metropolitan Infrastructure Strategy (SAMIS).
The superstations have a consistent design, with some tailoring at each to meet site specific conditions. The buildings accommodate 30 to 40 ambulance vehicles along with external staff parking and an office area for paramedics on break, administration staff and a logistics team. Modern security and communications systems have been incorporated into the superstation design to allow the building to be monitored remotely by the NSW Ambulance ICT team.
