This stunning 14,00m2 facility collocated and linked to the existing Albury Hospital provides world-class cancer care to the regional community. Shifting away from traditional hospital construction, the end result is functional and inviting, with individual inpatient rooms and open-air courtyards.
Organised around two ground level courtyards, spaces avoid the traditional 'cave' approach to Radiation Oncology. The 30-bed inpatient ward on the second floor features rooms built around two v-shaped spaces and a day-oncology unit with 30 chemotherapy chairs providing patients with a beautiful view outdoors.
Hansen Yuncken upskilled the local workforce by implementing several innovative methodologies on this project. Precast concrete slabs were lifted onto the steel framework by crane, followed by a concrete pour over each frame to complete the individual levels.
