Enhancing the rich history of Adelaide's iconic performing arts scene, Hansen Yuncken was awarded the contract by Arts South Australia and Adelaide Festival Centre Trust, to redevelop one of Adelaide’s main landmarks, Her Majesty’s Theatre.
The $66 million redevelopment showcases Hansen Yuncken’s skills in meeting construction and engineering challenges of a modern transformation, while respecting the heritage of the theatre lovingly known as the Grand Old Dame of Grote Street.
The redevelopment included restoration of the building’s heritage façade and Eastern wall, construction of a new larger auditorium over three levels with modern foyers and backstage facilities and a new front entrance and striking canopy.
Commencing construction in April 2018, the theatre reopened to the public in early 2020.
