Following the successful delivery of the NewCold Advanced Cold Logistics #1 - Frozen Store, Hansen Yuncken was appointed as the builder for the 18,500m2 NewCold Advanced Cold Logistics #2 - Cold Store project in Truganina.

The project involved the construction of a 37m high insulated cold storage high bay facility for storing pallets of cold food, with a level of automation not previously seen in Australia. Featuring a fully automated system of conveyors for storage of 120,000 pallets, 10 double satellite stacker cranes and five different temperature storage compartments, the impressive 26,000m² was designed for efficiency. With oxygen reducing fire safety technology, and state of the art systems, the innovative design delivers a significant reduction in electricity consumption when compared with conventional cold storage warehouses.

In addition to the high-bay space, the facility comprises a 15m high low-bay despatch warehouse, a 5,000m² super canopy structure, container storage yard, 19 loading docks and an office building co-joined with a technical building to house the central plant.

The project was delivered successfully on time and budget and required significant coordination and integration with specialist contractors and trades to ensure the built structure operates to the client’s strict requirements.
