Australia Post’s new Victorian parcel distribution centre is a major expansion to the existing operations at the Melbourne Parcel Facility (MPF) in Sunshine West. Supporting the enormous increase of parcel delivery volume experienced by Australia Post and the wider transport industry in Australia, the new facility integrated the latest in European automated sorting technology with the existing live facility and services.
While the existing distribution centre remained fully operational 24 hours a day to cope with the highest parcel delivery demand ever experienced in Australia amid the Covid-19 pandemic, our team delivered extensive works safely and efficiently.
As a recognised leader in the implementation of Virtual Design and Construction (VDC), including Building Information Modelling (BIM) processes and technology, HY utilised extensive BIM modelling to design and test equipment before installation. Clash coordination with the conveyor automation systems worked exceptionally well,eliminating all clash coordination issues before works commenced on site.
