The Bathurst Correctional Centre project saw the expansion of the existing correctional centre to deliver a new 220 bed maximum security compound.
The scope of works included construction of a gatehouse, administration building, staff amenities, reception, accommodation, industries, ten-bed segregation unit and clinic buildings.
Exterior works included the installation of a pedestrian and vehicle lock between the existing medium security and new maximum-security compound, new facilities located outside the secure perimeter for central stores and grounds maintenance, new facilities located within the minimum-security compound for kitchen and laundry and all associated earthworks, services, roads, paving, carparks, landscaping, fencing necessary for the operating facility.
The new maximum-security facility offers 220 new beds and created 65 new jobs for the local community. The facility houses educational and industrial facilities to provide skill-based rehabilitation for prisoners during incarceration. In total, 13 new buildings have been constructed alongside the part heritage listed existing Medium & Minimum Security Centre.
