Hansen Yuncken has announced the launch of our Sustainability Roadmap, outlining our commitment to reducing our environmental impact and promoting sustainable practices across our operations.

The roadmap includes a range of initiatives aimed at reducing our carbon footprint, promoting energy efficiency, and minimising waste. Other key focus areas include promoting sustainable procurement practices, Indigenous reconciliation, local community initiatives, employment opportunities for underrepresented groups and providing a safe workplace where wellbeing is prioritised and our people feel empowered to grow.

Hansen Yuncken CEO, Peter Salveson, said the Sustainability Roadmap was a critical step forward for Hansen Yuncken as we seek to play a leading role in the construction industry’s transition towards sustainability.

“We recognise the urgent need to reduce our environmental impact and promote sustainable practices across all aspects of our operations,” he said.

“Our Sustainability Roadmap sets out a clear and comprehensive plan for achieving these goals, and we are committed to delivering on these commitments over the coming years.”

– Peter Salveson, Chief Executive Officer

The launch of the Sustainability Roadmap follows a number of sustainability initiatives by Hansen Yuncken, dating back to 2006, with the successful delivery of Australia’s first new commercial office building Melbourne’s Council House 2 (CH2), meeting and exceeding the 6 Star Green Star rating system administered by the Green Building Council of Australia.

More recently, Hansen Yuncken has partnered with Flinders University to implement a range of initiatives throughout the design and delivery of the $250 million state of the art Health and Medical Research Building.

Hansen Yuncken has taken a proactive approach toward driving sustainability, partnering with Dulux to participate in Project Earth – an initiative designed to recycle and repurpose used paint containers following their use.

Other initiatives include partnering with ‘Keep South Australia Beautiful’ (KESAB) to host regular site clean up days, a plasterboard recycling program, sitewide colour coded recycling system, air tightness on blockwork that exceeds specification and dedicated bike storage areas to encourage cyclists to commute.

Hansen Yuncken is one of Australia’s largest construction companies, with a long history of delivering iconic projects across the country. With the launch of our Sustainability Roadmap, we are proud to be taking a significant step towards a more sustainable future for the industry.
