Jindabyne Education Campus

Hansen Yuncken delivered the Jindabyne Education Campus, a new combined Primary School and High School replacing the former Jindabyne Central School. Located approximately two kilometres from the Jindabyne town centre, the campus formed a key component of the NSW Government’s Snowy Mountains Special Activation Precinct and was designed to support long-term growth in the region. Constructed on a nine hectare greenfield site adjoining the Jindabyne Sport & Recreation Centre, the conventionally built campus accommodates up to 925 students across both education streams.

Engaged under a Design and Construct contract, Hansen Yuncken delivered both the education facilities and a significant package of supporting civil infrastructure. The project included a 1-kilometre upgrade of Barry Way, construction of a new roundabout and intersection, installation of approximately 2.3 kilometres of high-voltage power infrastructure, and extensive relocation of water, sewer, Telstra and NBN services. Education facilities comprised contemporary learning spaces, specialist support areas, libraries, administration facilities, indoor and outdoor sports infrastructure, a multipurpose hall for school and community use, and expansive outdoor learning and play spaces.

Delivery of the project involved complex early works, including bulk earthworks, major service relocations, and approximately 11,500m² of rock excavation. Strong environmental management and stakeholder collaboration were central to the project, with proactive engagement to manage biodiversity requirements and community expectations. Hansen Yuncken also demonstrated a strong commitment to Aboriginal participation, partnering with Yarpa Hub to connect local Aboriginal businesses with project opportunities. The completed campus now provides a high-quality, future-focused education environment delivering lasting benefits to the Snowy Mountains region.
