Expected completion 2025
ECI to Main Works conversion
14,000m2 of learning space
Strong sustainability focus
Designed by Woods Bagot to be a highly connected, welcoming space that invites community access and use of its facilities while honouring the heritage component of the site. The building is to meet the operational, functional and aspirational requirements of key stakeholders. An urban design strategy to deliver on the sustainability principle is to expose the rivulet through a landscaped rear plaza and winter garden, connecting Brisbane Street to a future green spine on Melville Street.
The Forestry Building will be more akin to a campus than a single building
The Forestry Building is centred around three focal pillars – building as a campus, found conditions and layered connectivity. Together, the pillars will deliver spaces for students to exchange ideas and share in the University of Tasmania experience, while respecting the original heritage structures. Connectivity to the broader campus and city is essential, creating community, collaboration, and campus life.
