Multi award winning
720 glass panels
1,000 aluminium cladding panels
34 custom GRC elements
Strikingly curved and rainbow inspired, the project delivers a strong sense of civic and community pride, with social and events spaces, coworking spaces, a reflection room and theatrette – among commercial tenancies. The design reflects the diversity of the Victorian Pride Centre community, with each floor presenting scalloped and intricate features, founded on principles of inclusive design.
The first purpose built centre for Australia’s LGBTIQ+ communities and one of the largest worldwide
In the heart of the Victorian Pride Centre is a dramatic eggshell feature spanning 18 metres, from the ground floor to the rooftop. Complex in its design, the egg is comprised of a glass reinforced concrete (GRC) structure containing 34 panels, suspended from various slab edges. With minimal tolerances requiring openings of only +/-5mm, pinpoint precision was achieved using CNC machines and CAD technology. Nothing short of magnificent, this project was delivered with pride and passion as a safe space for all.
