The project consisted of two new buildings to create a new Girls Campus along with refurbishment of five existing buildings at Roma Mitchell Secondary College, and one new building at Mark Oliphant College. The new buildings at both schools provide new teaching spaces, including typical classrooms and specialist rooms such as science labs, food technology kitchens and construction technology workshops. Within these rooms, Hansen Yuncken supplied all Furniture, Fittings & Equipment (FFE) inclusive of specialist equipment such as laser cutters, 3D printers and fume cupboards.

The project involved the expansion of 2 school campuses ready for year 7 intake in January 2022. Of the two new buildings at RMSC, one was a double level traditional steel and concrete building and the other a single storey building constructed using Supaloc lightweight steel. The single new building at Mark Oliphant College was single storey built with Maxispan lightweight steel. The project also involves refurbishment of 5 areas within the existing campus at Roma Mitchell Secondary College.

A collaborative approach working closely with school stakeholders, driven by Hansen Yuncken was maintained throughout the project

System steel framing was introduced to a number of buildings for learning area facilities, which expedited construction, minimised activities on site and facilitated a safer and more cost effective solution underpinnings long term adaptability.

Through a collaborative approach with the school, Hansen Yuncken’s approach to site setup included establishment of a separated delivery driveway via the existing soccer ovals, and site sheds on an existing basketball court. This enabled Hansen Yuncken to reduce impacts on students, staff and other users as there was clear separation between the day to day school activities and the construction works.
