The role
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Building Services Engineer to join our South Australian team.
Responsibilities include
- Coordination of mechanical, electrical, fire, hydraulic and vertical services across our projects.
- Working closely with consultants through the design of services.
- Management of site services activities and trades.
- Managing testing and commissioning programs.
What’s Needed
- Minimum of 5 to 7 years experience in a similar role.
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or Construction Management.
- Effective time management skills, including sequencing of work and resource management.
- Strong attention to detail and understanding of high standard compliance.

About the role
We offer a unique opportunity for students in their 2nd or 3rd year of Construction Management, Engineering, or Architecture to join Hansen Yuncken full-time.
Our upcoming projects span health, industrial, education, defence, and commercial sectors, with values reaching up to $200M. As part of your studies, you will engage in a comprehensive development program, including on-the-job rotations and tailored training experiences.
You will gain a deep understanding of the construction management process through six-month rotations in the following areas:
- Contracts Administration
- Site Management
- Safety
- Estimating
- Design & Services
- Planning
Our first rotation will be in the pre-construction team helping with new tenders and learning how to price projects.
Our Building Cadets are mentored by experienced senior leaders who will guide you throughout your university journey and early career. You will benefit from a supportive network of mentors and buddies, ensuring a thorough and authentic experience of all aspects of construction.
About you
- Currently in your 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year of a degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Architecture
- Experience in construction or construction-related environments is desirable
- Able to commit to working four days per week
- Possess exceptional communication and problem-solving skills
- Have a positive attitude and eagerness to learn from the team

About the role
The opportunity exists for an experienced Site Engineer to join and contribute to our team and manage aspects of one of our latest commercial / health / educational projects valued at $300M in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs. The Site Engineer will be part of the high-performing fit-out team.
Reporting to the Project Manager, this is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the current growth of the branch and be a part of one of our most challenging projects currently.
Responsibilities
- Project and contract management during construction to ensure all project objectives, including time, budget, quality, safety and environmental requirements are achieved.
- Tasks include site meetings, site inspections, and working collaboratively with subcontractors and project stakeholders.
- Monitor construction progress for adherence to the program, reporting to the Site Manager and Project Manager.
- Innovative resolution of design issues, working collaboratively with the design team and proposing solutions where applicable.
- Provide critical input throughout the handover and commissioning phase for the project.
- Prepare detailed and accurate project reporting for management and other internal stakeholders.
- Monitoring and reporting on compliance of the works, ensuring these meet Hansen Yuncken’s standards
What’s needed
- 2-3 years post-graduate experience.
- 1-5 years as a Site Engineer, with a tier 1 or 2 builder in Australia is essential.
- Fit-out experience on large scale commercial/government or high end residential projects.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science, Building Construction, or equivalent.
- A strong understanding of design drawings and technical specifications.
- Professional, strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Effective time management skills, including sequencing of work and resource management.
- Strong attention to detail and understanding of high-standard compliance.

We have the opportunity for a Building Services Engineer to join our Services team here in Brisbane where you will work closely with our preconstruction and delivery teams to manage our upcoming and current projects.
Working across the education, health, and defence sectors, HY offers a diverse portfolio of sectors to work within and build your commercial project experience.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the timely delivery of Mechanical/HVAC, Electrical, Fire, Hydraulics, BMS, and Security services packages.
- Provide detailed input for services throughout the tender process.
- Manage, plan and coordinate all site services activities on commercial projects.
- Build strong long-term relationships with subcontractors.
- Manage site specific testing and commissioning programs and procedures.
- Maintain relevant knowledge of current and emerging industry trends and advancements in technology.
What’s needed
- 4+ years’ experience within Services environment ideally with a builder.
- Previous experience on government and commercial projects valued $50M+.
- Professional, strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Effective time management skills, including sequencing of work and resource management.
- A strong attention to detail and understanding of high-standard compliance.
