Achieving an ambitious Green Star 6 star rating and highly awarded by the industry, Council House 2 on Lt Collins Street is regarded as a world leader in green technology. Environmental features of the 13 storey building include precast façade and floor panels, recycled timber louvres, wind-driven turbines, ‘shower towers’ for natural evaporative cooling of fresh air (in addition to creating fresh air flow to lower floors), recycled water treatment systems and unique ‘phase change material’ cells as thermal storage for ‘coolth’, effectively creating a cold sink. The integrated fitout was a variation to the original contract.
